Every year Forest City Riders Enduro Club holds an enduro race followed by a Dual Sport Ride in the town of Leaf River, IL. This event is unique as the organizers work with 48 private landowners, mostly farmers to piece together a route through tree, creeks, gravel roads and hills. This is the land where suburb meets corn and bean field just west of the Illinois River. Check out this GPS map of the route.
2009 was my thrird year doing the event and my first time I planned on doing two 28 mile laps. This was also the most technical, log filled, high water course the group ever planned. I’m bruised and battered a week after but still feel the post ride high. This is a must attend event if you have a dirtbike with a headlight. Be sure to check it out in 2010.
As an added bonus Mike Mastrangelo showed up with his all electric Zero S. I got to ride it and wrote up a short review.
